Our Story
We know business is hard, we write the success story of it.
Built on Industry Knowledge, Driven by Student Hustle
Built on years of hands-on experience in garment manufacturing, Studio Mohar brings a deep understanding of fabrics, production, and quality standards to the Canadian custom apparel market.
What began by serving university clubs across UWaterloo, Queen’s, and McMaster quickly expanded. Music studios, dance events, and Canada-wide conferences rely on Studio Mohar for custom apparel, especially complex embroidery projects that many larger shops either decline or overprice.
Studio Mohar was created to do custom printing the right way. No markups. No cheap blanks. No unnecessary setup fees. Just premium quality at fair, transparent pricing.
Why We Exist
Studio Mohar was created in response to a broken custom apparel market. Across Canada, customers were being charged $85+ for basic hoodies with simple embroidery on mediocre blanks.
Inflated markups became the norm. Setup fees were arbitrary. High minimums shut out small businesses, creatives, and individuals who only needed a few pieces. The industry prioritized volume over craftsmanship, convenience over fairness.
By sourcing directly from premium manufacturers and removing unnecessary middlemen, Studio Mohar offers high-quality apparel at pricing that actually makes sense. Complex custom requests are welcomed, not avoided.
Studio Mohar exists to challenge an industry that has overcharged for too long. Premium quality without premium exploitation. Honest pricing, accessible ordering, and no BS.
Our Quality Standard
Studio Mohar stocks only blanks that meet strict quality standards—materials most generic Canadian wholesale suppliers don’t even carry.
High thread count cotton
A tighter weave delivers better durability, a softer hand feel, and a cleaner, more consistent print surface.
3-end fleece construction
A premium fleece technique using three yarn ends instead of two, resulting in warmer, more durable fabric with superior drape. Most low-cost hoodies use 2-end fleece to reduce expenses.
Ring-spun, combed cotton only
Fibers are refined to remove impurities and short strands, producing stronger, smoother fabric that resists pilling and holds prints longer.
One tier. Always premium. No cheap vs expensive options...because the cheap ones were eliminated entirely.
What Does Mohar Mean?
The name Mohar carries three layers of meaning, each rooted in craftsmanship, culture, and quality.
Stamped & Sealed
In Urdu, Mohar means “stamped” or “sealed”; a symbol of authenticity and ownership. It reflects the idea of leaving a deliberate mark on every garment produced, inspired by the traditional stamps long used in South Asian textile industries to signify quality and trust.
Vibrant Color
Mohar also echoes mor—the peacock—an emblem of pride, vibrancy, and authenticity. Like a peacock’s feathers, known not for brightness alone but for depth, balance, and natural richness, it reflects Studio Mohar’s approach to print: considered use of color, sharp detail, and finishes that remain striking over time rather than fading with trends.
Heritage & Quality
The name represents deep roots in garment manufacturing across South Asia and the Middle East, and the uncompromising quality standards that come with that legacy, now brought to the Canadian custom apparel market.
Mohar isn’t just a name. It’s a commitment to craftsmanship, color, and integrity, leaving a mark that lasts on every piece.
